Needed items for OUR KITCHEN

  1. Sugar

  2. Flatware (forks, knives, spoons)

  3. Dish towels

  4. Mugs

  5. Coffee (ground or whole bean)

  6. Cups, plastic (reusable or disposable) or glass

  7. Compostable to-go containers, new and in bulk

  8. Paper plates (heavy duty preferred)

  9. Napkins

  10. Dish soap

  11. Butter

  12. Flour

  13. Gift cards to grocery stores

We have limited storage in our kitchen and cannot accept opened boxed goods or canned goods.

How do I drop off these needed items?

  1. Plan to drop off during the hours we are open, every day of the week from 7:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 - 5:00 p.m.

  2. Let us know to expect you! Call our front desk prior to dropping items off at 434-973-1234 ext. 100.

  3. Ring the doorbell at our side entrance (red door) on 1st Street for collection or bring items through the main shelter entrance off Market Street. Please do not drop items without speaking to a staff member first.

  4. You’ll be asked to complete an in-kind donation form for our records.


Does the haven need furniture or other household items?

If you have furniture or household items to donate, please utilize our local partners who offer free or low-cost furniture to our clients: Habitat Re-store, Pete’s Furniture Bank, or Love INC.
