Find basic services and housing resources through The Haven.

You should call the Homeless Information Line at 434-207-2328 to be screened for housing support if:

  • You are literally homeless (living on the street, in an emergency shelter, in a vehicle, or another place not intended for habitation) OR

  • You are within 14 days of losing your rental unit AND have a lease or new lease prospect OR

  • You are doubled up with friends or are living in a motel AND have a lease prospect

Leave a voicemail with your name, housing situation, best phone number and time for a call back. Learn more about the HIL and what to expect. Calls are returned within two business days between the hours of 8:00am-8:00pm. Learn more about our housing programs.

If you do not meet the above qualifications or are seeking any other type of assistance, please contact the Community Resource Line at 833-524-2904, Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m to 5:00 p.m.

Emergency overnight shelter options

The Haven does not provide overnight shelter. If you are currently experiencing homelessness, there are two overnight shelter options in our community:

  • PACEM; a low-barrier overnight shelter for adults that operates men’s and women’s shelters at area churches between November 2, 2024 - April 18, 2025. Visit PACEM’s website to learn more and identify current shelter sites. No pre-screening required.

  • Salvation Army; a high-barrier overnight shelter for adults located at 207 Ridge Street. Call 434-295-4058 for a screening.

The Haven’s Day Shelter is open Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturday through Sunday from 7:00 a.m. to 12 noon.

We offer breakfast, showers, laundry and other services to our guests every morning. We also work with several agencies and programs to connect our guests to the resources they need to find housing and stabilize their lives.
